Gua Sha

Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese healing technique.  It is the scraping (Gua) of the skin with a special bone Gua Sha tool to promote Qi and Blood circulation and removal of toxins.  Gua sha tools are either made from jade which is very cooling and useful for removing heat from the body or form water buffalo horn which is highly detoxifying.  Gua Sha it is administered by applying herbal Gua Sha oil to the skin and scraping the back or areas of discomfort  to remove toxins.

As the body is scraped it creates a  build-up of fluid leaving a vacuum behind which draws toxic fluid out to the surface of the skin from deep within the tissue.  The toxic fluid (Sha), floods to the surface and can be seen in small red, deep purple or green pools of blood, this area also often feels hot to touch.   Red spots are an indication that toxins are being released.  Where the area is deep purple the blood is old and stagnant.  A dark green discolouration is a sign that stagnant Blood and toxic Qi are being released from the system.  The toxic fluid that is drawn to the surface is eliminated and replaced by new oxygen and nutrient rich fluid accelerating regeneration.  Gua Sha treats not only the meridian system but the entire system and is suitable for the treatment of many disorders including cancer.
